Research Center for Epidemic Prevention and One Health, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University(RCEP-NYCU)

Continuously strengthening the One Health concept by integrating experts from different fields of "human-animal-environment" and establishing collaborations across disciplines and sectors.

The Research Center for Epidemic Prevention and One Health, formerly known as the Health One Health Research Center, was established in 2018. The initial mission of the center is to advocate the One Health concept, integrating experts from various fields of "human-animal-environment," fostering local talent, and collaborating with neighboring countries to establish a regional epidemic prevention alliance, in order to achieve the goal of One Health.

Conducting research in three main areas to achieve the goal of precision medicine.

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic at the end of 2019, the center further organized its efforts into three main areas of research: core research integration and capacity building, field validation and application, and sustainable talent development and international collaboration. Research and development achievements include the COVID-19 biochip detection platform (certified with ISO13485), cloud-based invisible hypoxia monitoring platform, mask recognition system for real-name registration, smart hospital bed service robot, and chip detection platform. Through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) systems and AI analysis, these technologies effectively assist in epidemic prevention and control, and contribute to the goal of precision medicine. Additionally, herbal compound formulas such as the "Jingguan Fang" and "Zhengyi Fang" have been proven effective in preventing and treating COVID-19.

Under the leadership of the center, the Taiwan One Health University Network (TAOHUN) was established in 2019, and signed a memorandum of cooperation with the South East Asian Health University Alliance (SEAOHUN) in 2021. Through various international participation, we will continue to strengthen the new The cooperation of "Health in One" in the southbound region and the ability to respond to emerging international public health incidents. In addition, the International Health Master's Degree Program (IHP Program) offered by our school continues to train global public health professionals in an all-round way in combination with health policy, infection and immunology, and public health disciplines. It has trained more than ten countries, Hundreds of public health professionals, students can go to overseas research bases (Indonesia, India, Malawi, Vietnam) to engage in dissertation research or implement international health projects, and go deep into the front line of international health.
